The Bonito and Bodoquena region, in Mato Grosso do Sul, is a box of surprises that goes far beyond the famous snorkeling experiences. For travelers with an explorer’s soul, who love direct contact with land and water and are not afraid to get their feet wet, there is a place that redefines the concept of hiking: Ecosserrana Park. Located in the heart of the Serra da Bodoquena, this park is a sanctuary for aquatrekking, an adventure activity that invites you to walk inside crystal clear rivers, exploring canyons and waterfalls from a completely new perspective. Ecosserrana is one of the most authentic destinations in Brazil for those seeking total immersion in wild nature.

Forget conventional paths. Here, the river is the trail. Get ready to discover one of the most beautiful places in the region, where every step is a discovery and every dive is a reward.

The Meeting of the Salobra and Limoeiro Rivers

Ecosserrana Park is located in the municipality of Bodoquena, an ecotourism hub neighboring Bonito. The magic of the place unfolds along the banks of two important rivers: the wild Salobra River, which carved impressive canyons, and the Limoeiro River, with its refreshing waters.

It is in this vibrant natural setting, where the Cerrado flora blends with the riverside forest, that the park offers its experiences. The fauna is rich and present, with the possibility of spotting birds, monkeys, and other animals in their natural habitat.

What Is Aquatrekking?

The great highlight of Ecosserrana Park is aquatrekking. But what is it? It is a type of hiking (trekking) in which a large part of the route is done in the water, walking along the shallow riverbed. You do not just see the landscape, you become part of it. It is an incredibly dynamic and fun way to explore the environment, feeling the texture of the stones under your feet and the gentle flow of the water.

The Park Trails

The park offers routes with different levels of intensity, allowing each visitor to choose the adventure that best matches their profile.

1. Funil Trail (Adventure for Everyone)

Distance: About 2.2 km (round trip).Level: Easy.

This is the perfect trail for families, groups of mixed ages, or those looking for their first aquatrekking experience. The route is shorter and gentler, passing through four swimming spots, including two beautiful waterfalls and two “pebble beaches” – small beaches formed by stones polished by the river. It is a light, fun, and extremely scenic walk, one of the most accessible Instagrammable spots in the region.

2. Salobra River Canyon Trail (The Ultimate Expedition)

Distance: Approximately 7 km.Level: Moderate to difficult.

For the more adventurous, this is the crown jewel. The trail takes you on an expedition inside the monumental Salobra River Canyon. Most of the route is done through aquatrekking, walking between rock walls that rise dozens of meters high. The feeling of smallness in the face of nature’s grandeur is indescribable. It is a challenge rewarded with landscapes that few have the privilege to see, a true immersion into the wild heart of the Serra da Bodoquena.

A Day on the Farm

Ecosserrana Park is not just about adventure, it is also about comfort. The farm’s structure was designed to provide a complete and enjoyable day.

Reception and Restaurant: After the trail, a delicious and hearty lunch featuring the best of Mato Grosso do Sul cuisine is included in the tour. It is the perfect moment to recharge and share the stories of the day.

Limoeiro River Balneary: After lunch, visitors have access to the farm’s leisure area, a calm river bathing area where it is possible to swim, relax, and simply enjoy the afternoon.

Full Support: The site offers changing rooms with showers, restrooms, hammocks for resting, and parking.

Bonito Travel Tips for Ecosserrana Park

Footwear Is Key: This is the most important tip. Closed footwear that can get wet is mandatory (sneakers, hiking boots, or water shoes). Flip flops or going barefoot are not allowed. The reception usually offers water shoe rentals, but it is best to confirm.

Plan Your Day: The park is located in Bodoquena, about a 1.5 hour drive from Bonito. It is a full day tour, so set aside the entire day in your itinerary to enjoy it without rushing.

What to Bring: Wear light, quick drying clothes. Bring swimwear underneath, a towel, a change of dry clothes, sunscreen, and insect repellent to use before and after the trail.

Know Your Limits: Evaluate your physical condition when choosing the trail. The Salobra River Canyon trail is long and demands more physical effort.
